Sound wiring questions

Post by OldFoo »

Car audiophiles should jump on this one - What would be the simplest way to put a subwoofer in a Jamma cab? Here are some thoughts I had (though would love a simple solution):

1. From the jamma harness, run a line out converter to an amp, then wire (in series) a 4ohm speaker & 4ohm sub. Would this work? If so, which one be first in the series? Also, not sure about the smaller speaker, but the sub's wattage rates @25w.

2. AT circuit again, then hook up a Naomi sound amp. This, however, I'd rather not do, since I'd just rather not use the Naomi sound amp in this cab, unless of course, that's my easiest solution.

I suppose where I get most confused is regarding the wiring of speakers "in series". I just want to run 1 sub + 1 speaker, how exactly do the high/low frequencies separate? Should I put a cap/resistor between the sub & spkr? If so, what would the values be? Thanks, any suggestions would be much appreciated -

I used a car stereo equilizer w/sub out to do all the work. It works off 12VDC, has volume control, separate sub volume, right/left speaker adjustments, graphic eq. Everything you need in one neat, mountable module. :smt020 If you get one with a built-in amp, you're all set! :D
