i have seen game boards show ram and rom errors but work fine,unless the game is not working then don't worry

Ok, so this is a GD-ROM game. That means he has the whole DIMM setup.

during demo presentation sound is ok. only ranking game post no have audio. is normal? thanks :smt017

question.... IC117 operate only ROM game ? with gd-rom game, ic117 (audio ram) not used?

IC117 is a chip that is directly on the Naomi pcb. This is the Naomi board test:

When you test the NAOMI 2 software with the NAOMI 2 main board, the following screen may appear.

The test takes approximate 5 minutes and 10 seconds to complete.

The only person I can think of who knows what IC117 does would be Ken Westerfield of www.irepairsega.com. He is an actual Sega technician who knows the hardware inside and out. He is also the person you would want to repair the Naomi if you wanted to.

yes the chip is directly on the naomi pcb. Is located near a cpu.

The problem occurs only with games rom cartridge?

In my Naomi2 IC 117 sits close to one of the VDPs so I'd say it's a video ram.

IC117 looks like a RAM chip. There is no way around this problem. This error will happen with Carts and GDs. Unless this chip problem is resolved, the Naomi will not work. The IC is malfunctioning.
