Triforce woes - !!Fixed!!

Post by OldFoo »

I have a few Type B Triforce motherboards (with integrated 1GB DIMM, not external) and I can't seem to get them to boot a game. My only software is Virtua Striker 2002, and the security chip is 253-5508-0337J.

When I boot the system, I get an error 31 - game is unacceptable by mainboard. This error pops up immediately, before the software is even attempted to be loaded from the GD-Rom drive. The manual indicates the following:

Error 31

[DISPLAY] Error 31

This game is not acceptable by main board.

[CAUSE] The game has not been downloaded into the DIMM BOARD

from the HOST MACHINE.

[COUNTERMEASURES] Check network connections.

Verify that the PC is connected to the network.

Reset the main power. Wait until the game is displayed on the

main screen, then turn the satellite power on and reboot.

In Test Mode, select NETWORK SETTING from the SYSTEM

MENU and check that the NETWORK TYPE is set to ETHER.

In Test Mode, select NETWORK SETTING from the SYSTEM

MENU, go to SET IP ADDRESS and verify that the REMOTE

setting is appropriate for the game in use.

Check the internal DIMM BOARD battery is functioning

correctly.

However, Virtua Striker 2002 has no network capability and instructs the network settings to be set to 'OFF'.

In the test menu, the system shows 'Unknown game title', much like a Naomi that hasn't loaded it's game yet. I have tried cycling through various settings, to no avail. I have this problem on all motherboards.

Do I have the correct security chip?

Does this game require Type A? I thought the newer board ran everything. According to the versions, and the manual, I have acceptable versions of all software, but DIMM BOARD FIRM version in the manual says 3.01, and I believe I am running something with a lower number, but newer, because there is no outboard DIMM.

Any thoughts to get this game booting? The Error 31 appears whenever this chip is installed, Error 26 with no chip (the expected error), and I have tried various power supplies, I/Os, etc. but the problem occurs so quickly after booting, it does not seem to be a perhiperal problem. Board is JP region as well.

dipswitch on dimmboard? Sounds like Type A MoBo.

Dunno about your settings but this is how it works for my Type B:

Dipswitch:

1 down

2 down

3 down

4 down

5 down

6 up (31 khz)

Otherwise, maybe you have to replace the battery on the dimm?

on type 3 mobo, you got two dipswitchs on the dimm board just near the option board connector ;)

Yep footix is right.. These 1GB jobs where setup for Clients/network feed from Avalon game.

oh yes - type 3... not type b...

However, I can only find the dipswitches next to the power connectores on my type 3 (export though). Isn't the dimm board internally in the type 3? Or am I mixing things up?

no you are right, the dimmboard is inside the casing :)

these mobos are setup to get their dimm filled by a network feed from a server, you have to configure them so that they use the gd drive.

Ahhhh... Lucky I had straight plug and play : ) So Danox has to up up his MoBo and set the Dipswitches?

Hi,

I had the same problem in the past......your mabo is setting for work as network with another mabo!!!!!

You should open the blu cover and muve the little switches on the mabo,

the ones near the chip game socket, they are two, move them ( they have to be opposite ) try to do it......you will see that it will works......

There is no problem Try till you will succed.

Let me know.
