Hello all,
I am currently getting the following error:
ERROR 26
OPTION BOARD MALFUNCTIONING
I have tried everything to get rid of this error but I don't know what else to do. My setup is a NAOMI 1, with Capcom I/O, and a GD-ROM. I recently installed a new "G" BIOS for all regions and so I could actually use the GD-ROM. I don't have this connected to a cab. I am using a standalone Board Master control board. After I first put the BIOS in, I tried the SPAWN rom board on it just to make sure the BIOS was working. No problems there.
This is my first time testing out the GD-ROM unit. I have 2 games, with the proper security chips. Both games are yielding the same error.
I read some other threads on the forum about ERROR 26, and opened up the DIMM board to re-seat the board that the security chip plugs into. Still getting the same error. I read about chips possibly going bad, but both of them going bad? That seems a bit out of the ordinary so I don't think it is the security chips.
Could this be a power problem?
Could the DIMM board be bad? but wouldn't that yield a different error?
Any help would be appreciated. I am a technical individually, but I have limited experience with arcade hardware in general. I am still learning.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide.
Error 26 with GD-ROM setup?
The Error 26 code means that the system cannot read the security key, or that is incorrect. Try making sure that the games match their respective keys. You can check here--->Naomi serial list.
If the keys match without a doubt, then there may be something wrong with one of the pcbs inside of the DIMM module. Most likely the uppermost pcb that accepts the security keys.

BIOS = 21576G
I/O = CAPCOM
This is the control box I am using:
http://www.tops-game.jp/part/usually/05 ... box_01.htm
GD ROM Games:
Capcom vs SNK 2 (GDL-0007A, 253-5509-5078)
Guilty Gear XX #Reload (GDL-0019A, 253-5509-5092J)
Senko No Ronde New (GDL-0030A, 253-5509-5107J)
I ran system tests on the RAM and DIMM board, and all checked out as good. I also reseated every device that is connected.
I am consistantly getting an ERROR 26 for CVS2 and GGXX, and an ERROR 25 for Senko no Ronde.

Yea but why would it be giving an entirely different error depending on the game I put in? Wouldn't that inconsistancy case doubt as to whether it was the GD drive?
If it really were the GD drive you would figure all 3 games would result in an ERROR 25. However only SENKO does, and the others yield ERROR 26.

Hello, i am oscar, a new member.
I have the same problem like lordnikon. In japan i buy 3 new Games for my naomi, but 2 dont work -> Error 26/Option board malfunktioning
The Games are: Chaos Field and Castle of Shikigami II
Other jp. Games like Ikaruga run without problems. The keys have the correct numbers. Dimm board test are okay.
And the most important thing: in the japanese shop CoSII works fine.
Maybe another dimm board help? Do some games -beside VF4FT- need the 3.17 Dimm board?
Thanks for help.
P.S.: Excuse my bad english, my mother-language is german
