Can the Astro City cab run Street Fighter 3 Third Strike without significant modification?
If it requires modification, what exactly does it need?

Where did you get the idea that this cab cannot run this game?
Any jamma cab is compatible with virtualy any jamma game.

I know nothing, which is why I ask questions. I just don't wanna buy a cab and get it home only to find out the power supply is incompatible with the needs of the system, or that the wiring needs to be replaced, or that the monitor is inadequate for the game, or that I need another I/O board.

Please note that you will need some extra wiring outside of the jamma connector.
some fighting games like SF use 6 buttons (per player). Jamma supports 3 buttons, so for the other 3 buttons you will need something that is called a kick-harness. Please note that you will need a CPS-III kick harness. (not a CPS-II)
This piece of wiring will be connected to the CPS-III on one end and to you buttons on your controll panel.
Also CPS-III supports stereo, so you might wnat to look into getting stereo through your speakers. perhaps it's already configured like that, perhaps not
Good luck. Let us know if you have any more questions. you could also ask at arcadeotaku.com which is more general arcade based and this forum is really more specific about Sega Naomi stuff. :smt004

This will do, right?

Oh gosh I hope so, because I already ordered it.
About converting the Astro City to stereo... is that a hard process?
Also, the CPS3 will go whether the I/O board is JAMMA or JVS, right?

CPS3 is Jamma, you'd need an adapter if your cab is JVS.

Is there an inexpensive solution to that? Something FAR less than 140 EUR + VAT?

rewiring is way less expensive.... but it really depends on what you want to play on the cab.

Turns out the cab is jamma, so no worries.
