Dead Daytonas.....

I am trying to get a twin daytona deluxe up and running.

One machine seems quite dead but the other has FF on the LED display. Both machines display nothing on the screen. The FF machine displays a solid green screen when I use a RGBS to VGA converter board and a monitor.

Is there a list of error codes and a description of what LEDs should be lit on which boards?

Any ideas? Thanks.

I have found that the cpu board has a fault on ic erm 64 i think it was... the legs are corroded... on the other machine that is completely dead I found that several capacitors on the outside of the pcb cage were broken.... trying to find place to sell cpu board or fix surface mount chips.....

I have bought an arcade converter board:

am still working away trying to get at least one machine running.... both cpu boards don't look great and only light 1 red led....

it is extremely common to find the board sets corroded, once like this they never work

its also very difficult to find replacement parts as these are model 2(not a,b or c)

suzo can repair these boards if the corrosion is not that serious, you will need to contact singh at that company-he may be able to help but it won't be cheap

i know Raj at sonica services has a working board set but i do not know if he will let it go

this is a very common and expensive problem and something i have seen many times during my years as an arcade tech

you should try swapping around boards at first to see if you can make one good from 2

the converter is correct

OT: A pity, isn't it? One of the greatest games of all time.. and it is destroying itself. These board issues have kept me from buying a Daytona USA. Hope to find a near-mint one.. one day.. ;-)

Is that converter any good? I have heard from several people that any EGA->VGA converter they used resulted in an inconsistent picture. They said it would look fine, but after being turned on for an hour or so the color would wash out.

yes, because you need to set the right CLAMP setting in the converter menu.

if not, you get the color wash out.
