Hooking a Naomi 1 + GD rom into an atomiswave SD cab

Hi guys,

I'm trying my best to figure out exactly how I should be setting up my naomi in my AWSD cab but I'm having some trouble.

I think the cab is JVS ready but I can't find instructions on how to hook it all up, I've only ever had Jamma games in there before.

Do I need extra power supplies?

If I hook it up via JVS then do I need to use the Sega v2 IO that I got with the kit at all?

etc etc

If someone could point me in the right direction or give any assistance with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I an only speak for mine but it has a JVS power supply to the right of the board in the floor of the cab, if you don't have cabling with 2 white connectors that'll fit in the front of your Naomi 1 mobo it might not be in yours.

Also in the back there's two 2 pin 110v sockets, one powers the monitor in mine and the other can be used to plug a SUN JVS PSU in if its needed to power your mobo, you'll defo need an I/O for controls, use a Capcom I/O for best results as it has a sound amp installed the Sega one uses a seperate sound amp i think.Although not 100% if the Sega v2 has one too.

Thanks for the help.

My cab does have the cables and power supply.

I hooked up the 8 and 6 plugs to the mobo and plugged the VGA in direct then plugged all the rest into the io and it seems to work a treat.

Picture is also far clearer.

Does any of this sound wrong? It's working fine but I'd gate to accidentally burn the thing out.

Also from what I gather the v2 of the Sega io is like the capcom one but with more features.

Damn, looks like I spoke too soon :(

The picture is still randomly dropping. I have no idea why, I'd assume it was a problem with the cables but no amount of jiggling will bring the picture back correctly.

there are times when I'll turn the cab on and the picture is halfway down the screen, other times it's fine then drops during play and others where it's fine the whole time.

Anyone else ever experience anything like this?

Strange, try the voltages you have coming through the JVS power supply with a multimeter,it could be a little weak, if you could get hold of a SUN JVS PSU you could do as i do and just plug it into the 2 pin 110v socket in the cab and get a more pure supply.

Not sure low voltages would cause this tho tbh, need pics to see really.

Its not just a vertical/horizontal hold thing is ? Have a little mess with those only turn fractionally and see if it does it as you turn it might just need a fine tune.

Tried messing with the hold settings and it's definately not that. I really have no idea why it does this but it's starting to get pretty annoying and is so random.

I'll try to nab a multimeter and take a look. Thanks for all your suggestions and help :)

Only other thing i can think of is a single wire connector usually tucked away under the large door opening on the front, when i used to play CPS3 in mine the picture used to roll until i undid this connector , something to do with sync.Never affected naomi unless it was still disconnected when i had that in there :smt017

I found the connector but makes no diff,

I also found that when the picture drops the way it does if I just walk away and leave the cab on eventually it will return to normal and seems to stay that way, almost like it needs to warm up or something :S very odd.

I'll take some pics of the setup this weekend and try to post them in case

I have something set up wrong.
