I have found in my "parts store" a Sega Model 3 boardset and I have plugged it into my Sega Rally 2 just so I can see what it is and seems it is a Virtua Fighter 3 although it's not marked as such.

Does this mean it is definitely a rev 1.0 model 3 board or could it be a later one running an earlier game chip set?

If the ROM board has partnumber 837-11860, it is either step 1.0 or step 1.5 (These boards are compatible only with 1.0 and 1.5)

Beneath the ROM board is the CPU board. Step 1.0 has partnumber 837-11858, step 1.5 has partnumber 837-12874.

It will be Model 3 step 1, Virtua Fighter 3 will not boot on a Step 1.5
