Solution: Using a Naomi with an HDTV

After a lot of research I learned that the Naomi VGA mode does not

output its signal at 60hz. It's a little more around 57hz ! This may have been

fine for analog VGA monitors of yesterday but I found very few HDTVs

that would work on a Naomi system.

What I did find is this really nice, affordable adapter:

You must use the component video cables to connect to a TV. The VGA

out is just a pass through connector and doesn't convert the Naomi signal.

The quality is absolutely amazing, the picture on a 42" monitor (Confidential

Mission) is absolutely superb and IMHO is better than the original

projection monitor.

Anyway, just wanted to share this little tidbit in case anyone else is

pulling their hair out trying to get their system running on an HDTV.

What would really be sweet is a device that took the VGA signal + audio and converted to HDMI.

I've had my NAOMI hooked up to my projector directly via VGA and it seems to handle to 57/60 Hz issue.

Thanks for the link. It might come in handy for something

Interesting, I have my Dreamcast hooked up to my HD TV and it does look amazing. Never tried it on my Naomi, but it is in a Dynamo HS-5 that I crammed a Eygo 27" VGA monitor into. :D

Just got a brand new Sony Bravia HDTV, Naomi works fine on it.

However, the picture is still way better on a CRT than on the HDTV. Oh well.
