I have two Naomi arcade systems. One Naomi system is a European Version of CVS2. The other system is a USA Marvel VS Capcom 2. When I first got the Euro CVS2 it didn't work. I looked under the hood and saw that it was a GD rom. The reason why it wasn't working was because the disc was not properly in place. When I put the disc in place it worked fine. I assumed that the disc got loose during shipping and handling.
Well about I think it was 4 months ago my Marvel VS Capcom 2 went out. I thought there was something wrong with the power supply. So I got a new power supply put it on, nothing happened. When I opened the Naomi I found out that it was not a GD rom like CVS2 but a JAMMA CART!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was just gonna exchange the disc on my CVS2 Naomi with my MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2 but I was wrong! Oh crap!
Now I realize that that the CVS2 Naomi and the MVC2 Naomi are TWO DIFFERENT SYSTEMS, does that mean my MVC2 is impossible to fix? Is there a suicide battery in the NAOMI Marvel VS Capcom 2 also? Is my system as good as dead? Is there anyway that I could fix it still? Or is it too late. Please help! Thanks.
Arcade Naomi Questions EXPERTS PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Hi,
The Naomi system can use either carts or GD-ROM. These are not JAMMA carts.
There are no suicide batteries in the Naomi, so don't worry about that.
Best thing to do is to check the cart & mobo are OK on the CVS2.
If you remove the DIMM board from the GD-ROM running mobo and replace it with the CVS2 cart, then see if it works. If it does then the cart is fine, if it doesn't do you get an error message? If so look it up, or post it here.
You could then try te GD setup on the other Naomi to check the mobo. Just make sure the BIOS on the mobo is version E or above if it's a Naomi 1 (the white one, N2 is blue)
Hope thats help for starters

I think the terms are being used incorrectly. Jamma refers to the type of interface, not the cart.
The two systems mentioned are the same, one has the GD-ROM setup with Dimm module, the other has just a cart. The GD-Dimm setup and cart are interchangable making Naomi fairly easy to diagnose. If you put the cart in place of the GD setup, and nothing happens, then you know that it's the cart. If the game starts, then you know it's an issue with the system.

I'd go with the testing of the cart. What's said above
EDIT: I am not an expert, lol
Take the grey and chrome cart out of the motherboard in the Capcom vs snk 2 cabinet. I always disconnect the power cord from the gd-rom drive (the little wire that goes to the mini cd player "gd-rom drive") but I don't know if you have to.
Then put your marvel vs capcom 2 cart in the slot where the grey and silver cart (that's called the "dimm board") went in. Pop it on and see if it works.
If it doesn't then it's your Marvel vs capcom 2 cart and another might run between $200-$250 just for the cart. But, you can buy plenty of other carts to go in that cab that are cheaper. Project Justice for example is in Naomi Cart form.
