Crazy Taxi Accelerator calibration

I have just finished fixing a Crazy Taxi but the accelerator either doesn't go to full throttle or doesn't work at all.
In the input menu the pot goes from 00-FF all OK nice and smooth, but I am not sure where I should zero it.
I used 25 at OFF but then it doesn't accelerate too much, I used FF at Full Open but then it doesn't work for the selection menu.
Any help appreciated.
