converting Universal Cab to MAME/PC Use

Hi,
I have a universal Cab & it looks like the Naomi board is shot (no display, ive tried another filter board & reluctant to throw money at it to get one game working).
So my plan is now to convert it to use for MAME - to get me started, is there any additional Hardware I need - ie to get the controllers working.
There is USB cable, VGA Cable & Audio cables that was connected to the Naomi - Wondering if the USB cable is for the controllers - and plugging them in to a computer would get them working.
