VMU games

Post by OldFoo »

So,

It's been a while that I wonder about the interactions between VMU and Naomi games

The following games are using VMU kit (SEGA or CAPCOM)

Capcom vs SNK 2 : C PANEL, only for pad I think

Capcom VS SNK PRO : VMU for some cheat, didn't well understund

POWERSTONE : don't know why

Gunspike : to unlock some chars

Street fighter Zero 3 upper : to play with the entry, but I can't.

Marvel VS Capcom 2 : for point system, but didn't well understood how

So, my questions are mostly about CVS2 and SFZ3, as it is the 2 games I own in this list.

SFZ3 : Does anyone get entry character to works ? Do I need a Jap save file ?

MVC2 : Can I unlock character with my VMU instead service code ? How does it works ?

f you know there is some other games who uses VMU kit, feel free to post.

I am really curious about this

PS : I know there was a schematic posted by Amano Jyaku on the old forum, linked from neogeo.com, maybe it could interest soem people.

edit : here it is http://members.lycos.co.uk/amanojacu/fo ... i/cont.jpg

recegnized as capcom one

The Namco wrestler Toukenden Routeden 4 uses VMU

I've seen the VMU unit installed on a Naomi cab and it look the biz, but I've never seen a VMU kit for universal cabs anywhere! Would be a nice find.

hooking up the dreamcast controllers to the naomi

Post by OldFoo »

jeston,

By hooking up the dreamcast controllers to the naomi, will you then be able to also play games with the dreamcast controllers on the naomi? What type of Molex connectors will I need to use the dreamcast controllers on the naomi? (Hope someone can help me out with some info).

yes, you will be able to play with the dreamcast controller, BUT you still need an IO board/converter. Otherwise you'll get an error "NO IO FOUND"

for the type of connectors, I don't know how to name it. It's the same as cps1 kick harness.

Okay, the requirements for this is as follows to my knowledge:

Japan Bios (I don't think the other bios have the VMU kit option)

A JVS I/O board is required regardless, although I heard some games like Marvel Vs Capcom 2 work without.

You need JST NH connectors and pins.

I've never tried this myself though, but I belive you can use DC keyboards as well wired up the same way for games like Typing of the Dead! ;)

Andy, are you sure about that ?

you mean Converter or IO ? Wich would be the same for all games, regardless if VMU function or not, otherwise you'll get IO ERROR.

To Mr Megalo : can you explain a bit of the VMU function works on MVC2 (nd othergames if you know it)
