Running Sloooooooow

have a Naomi system1 running Sports Jam.having a few problems.On start up the screen will flick constantly,then game loads up,goes throught the boot screen etc.When it gets to the game,incert coins etc.Its starts running slow,the controls work but again very slow.the screen still flicks slow likes its still loading?.Checked all the cables/getting 5v,3.3 etc

Anybody any ideas?.

thats a bit of a wierd fault,not something i have seen but i would look toward the gdrom drive or the ram in the dimm card

common fault on Naomi, I've seen many running 1/4 of the speed.

Normally down to a faulty IC (memory), Ken Westerfield at www.irepairsega.com can easily fix, but might be easier to buy another from eBay.

Checked the dimm on the test screen all cam back good,went to run a ram check,1st 2 where good,but it was taking a while for this to happen had to give up,will get back to it later to check it out.So how long will it take to run a full ram test?.

On my N2 a RAM test takes about 3-4 minutes or so..

ran the ram test first ic is good,2nd ic good then it just stoped,thats it.So i guess my Ics are bad,it there much in changing them out?.

Might be an open BGA, then IMO not worth repairing.

An open BGA means that the joint between the component and the PCB is broken. A BGA cannot be visually inspected for failures.
