dimm and gd drive

Post by OldFoo »

Well, I've got my naomi board up and running in with a cabinet. I've had them before but never used them in a cabinet so it's been a bit different but not too much so.

With that in mind I've picked up a gd and dimm, but seems I picked up some bad parts.

I guess the dimm board is bad as I only get a black screen with it installed. I've also taken it apart to try and reseat the top board but still get nothing.

So is that worth trying to have fixed or should I toss it. I don't know what type or model it is though but if someone knows how to figure that out and would share I can get the info or put up some pics.

Also without the dimm I guess I can't test the gd drive then? Should it do anything when given power? When I hooked it up, nothing happened, no fan, no noise, no spinny, no anything but a cool looking paperweight.

On a side note I think this is the loudest naomi board I have ever seen, it's like it has a jet engine rather than a fan or something the way it sounds.

I dunno if you wanna do it but you could send me your GD-ROM and I'd be happy to test it and ship it back to you. I have a loud NAOMI too atm. It's in a cab downstairs. It sounds like a turbine engine but works great. What kind of dimm is it? Net dimms take a min to load up as opposed to non net ones. :smt020

How do you tell what kind of dimm it is.

There is the scsi lookin port, a rj45 looking port and then one that looks like it has pins like a monitor cable.

Well I've taken it all back out of the cab and put it on the table for testing.

I've got the rom drive to power up, or at least the fan to run, but it is very weak feeling.

I've got the system to come on now with the dimm but I get error 22. I've not found any bent pins and I've reseated the top board a few times, I think it was just a bit dirty is why it was not loading up at all.

I guess then that means the dimm is shot for sure? The rom drive may be good though I hope.
