The Key of Avalon Experiment

Post by OldFoo »

Moved this from my sales thread as it's now becoming more of a discussion.

The overview: I'm trying to get a Triforce setup to run The Key of Avalon game. We have discerned that for a full setup you need 5 Motherboards, 1 Host and 4 Slaves. You need 1 Main Disc and 4 Client Discs of the same revision and a dongle for each station. You also need touch screens for the 4 Slave terminals and something to read the cards.

Things we do not yet know;

Are the dongles for the main and slave units different

Answer: No the same dongle Works for both units. Confirmed.

Does each Revision have a different dongle

Answer: No the one Dongle will work for every revision. Only Key of Avalon 2 Discs require a Different Key. Confirmed.

How are the cards scanned into the system when they have no barcodes

What we currently have;

2x Triforce Rev B motherboard

GDT-0005F The Key of Avalon Main revision 7.001

GDT-0006F The Key of Avalon Client revision 7.001

GDT-0009C The Key of Avalon Main Ver 1.30 Expansion revision 4.000

GDT-0010C The Key of Avalon Client Ver 1.30 Expansion revision 4.000

GDT-0017B The Key of Avalon 2 Client revision 3.001

GDT-0019B The Key of Avalon 2 Expansion Main revision 3.000

The only disc I have with the correct dongle is GDT-0019B and I have two orphaned dongles with the Sitcker 253-5508-0355J which do not equate to any of these discs. If anyone has anything else out there not on this list please let me know. I desperately want to get this up and running. :)

The key chip will be different most likely.

But any version will use the same key chip, for example VFT FT A/B/C/D/E/F all used the same key chip.

So in theory;

Avalon Main Ver A-Z uses Chip 1

Avalon Client Ver A- Z uses Chip 2

Avalon Main 1.30 A-Z uses Chip 3

Avalon Client 1.30 A-Z uses Chip 4

Avalon 2 Main Ver A-Z uses Chip 5

Avalon 2 Client Ver A-Z uses Chip 6

Avalon 2 Expansion Main Ver A-Z uses Chip 7

Avalon 2 Expansion Client Ver A-Z uses Chip 8

? :)

I would go along with that.

You just need a router, connect the server to that, and the clients to the router as well.. They should find them automatically.

They should all start loading from the GD-ROM drives, once loaded the clients should be waiting for master.. then handshake, then intro.

That what they do for the driving games at least..

Cheers that makes a bit more sense now, just need to get my hands on a load of assorted dongles and we're set to give it a try. :)
