Question on setting up cables for a gd-rom, psu & Capcom

Post by OldFoo »

I have a Naomi I mobo and a Capcom I/O board and want to hook up a GDROM. I already have a gd-rom and net dimm board with power splitter cable and sega scsi cable and have a sega power supply unit coming in the mail, although I am confused on how to connect the new psu with the already excisting power from the I/O board. Do I connect the gdrom to the I/O and the naomi mobo to the sega psu or do the both connect to the sega psu? And what exactly is the (CN2: POWER SUPPLY (JST VL 6P) 1: (N.C.) 2: +3.3V 3: +5V 4 ~ 6: GND) used for. I have noticed that there is a cable and connector for this on the psu as well as for the CN1: Power Supply. Does anyone know where I can find this information or a layout of how these cable should be set up? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The Sega-Naomi's main website has a picture of the whole setup as you described. Take a look here--->Naomi Setup<---.

NOTE: Do NOT plug the GD-ROM into the I/O. People have tried this with disastrous results.

Yeah got it to work. Thanks for the link. I had actually saw it before but couldn't see where the I/O power cable went on it, so I just left it unpluged and am drawing the power for both the main mobo and the gd-rom from the sega power supply unit, which is what it looks like in the links picture. Well I got it working but just out of curiousity do you know what exactly is the (CN2: POWER SUPPLY (JST VL 6P) 1: (N.C.) 2: +3.3V 3: +5V 4 ~ 6: GND) used for.

Not really. It seems redundant to me. You only really need to connect to the larger of the power inputs and the system works fine. :smt102
