Hi All,



Need some direction w/ making a universal NAOMI Shooting Cabinet.







I would like one similar to RGP's

What I have...

• JVS I/O (Standard NAOMI JVS I/O Board)
  
  Japaneses Wiring Looms for Analog and Digital (Thanks Geezer)
  
  Sanwa Bezel w/ IR Cutouts (Thanks Geezer)
  
  IR Sensor Array - Type II (Thanks Mick)
  
  GUN I/O Board - Type II (Thanks Mick)
  
  Red IR sensors covers (Thanks Mick)
  
  Confidential Mission GD-ROM and Security IC

What I need...

• Confidentioal Mission CPO and Marquee and CP Insert
  
  (probably do not need these to get this to work but need it to look correct in the end)

Gun I/O Board Connections

• The IR sensor array I got from Mick looks like it will work fine. 6 pin connector - I am OK here
  
  Freq Connector, Supplied with Gun I/O board, 3 pin connector - I am OK here

Also need some Type II guns with connectos that will plug right into the gun I/O board







HERE IS THE 1ST THING I NEED TO WORK OUT





Power and Interface to JVS I/O Analog and Digital Looms...



The Gun I/O board came from a US woody and had a loom with Molex Connector going to 2 pin power and 9 pin JVS output

(I think this needs to go and I need to make or purchase some looms - would prefer to purchase them)











I think the analog side of loom would look like...

• 9 pin connector - Pin 1 - GND -> 26 Pin JVS Pin 05 - AGND
  
  9 pin connector - Pin 2 - 1PX -> 26 Pin JVS Pin 15 - 1PRX (AD3)
  
  9 pin connector - Pin 3 - 1PY -> 26 Pin JVS Pin 21 - 1PRY (AD4)
  
  9 pin connector - Pin 4 - 2PX -> 26 Pin JVS Pin 03 - 2PRX (AD1)
  
  9 pin connector - Pin 5 - 2PY -> 26 Pin JVS Pin 09 - 2PRY (AD2)

(I think all of these connections are brought out from the 26 pin connector to my analog loom and Y connector)



I think the digital side of loom would look like...

• 9 pin connector - Pin 6 - 1P F.Out -> 60 Pin JVS Pin 29 - 1P F.Out. (What is this for?)
  
  9 pin connector - Pin 7 - 2P F.Out -> 60 Pin JVS Pin 30 - 2P F.Out. (What is this for?)
  
  9 pin connector - Pin 8 - 1P Trigger -> 60 Pin JVS Pin 27 - 1P Trigger
  
  9 pin connector - Pin 9 - 2P Trigger -> 60 Pin JVS Pin 28 - 2P Trigger

(I think all of these connections are brought out from the 60 pin connector to my digital IO Loom connectors)





For the Power

• 2 pin connector - Pin 1 GND -> ???? (I think I can get this of my JPN DIGITAL LOOMS)
  
  2 pin connector - Pin 2 +12 -> ???? (I think I can get this of my JPN DIGITAL LOOMS)

So I am not quite sure what the right question to ask is but here goes...







Do I have to make my own looms with tyco connectors to connect gun I/O board to JPN looms or can I buy them?



Is there a 'standard' set of looms I can Purchase to connect GUN I/O board to JVS I/O JPN LOOMS?





Once I get this worked out I will likely have some questions on connecting and powering the Type II guns.

the red IR covers are in the box, I sent those, you would need a US PSU which I have a spare I think, the guns plug direct into the harness you have

I found the IR sensor covers :smt020



I just needed to look harder in the peanuts



Hold off on the PSU for a bit.



Looking over the looms and 60 pin connector I know there is 12V brought out there.



I am pretty sure that there are connectors on the JPN looms I have to power the guns similar to RGP's setup



Just not sure how to connect power to the guns and gun boards from the JPN looms.

I managed to get a bezel w/ predrilled holes. (Thanks Geezer)



Plan 'B' would have been to get a spare.



I figured a couple people might be interested in doing this conversion so I started a thread so that everyone interested could hopefully beneifit.



I think I know how things should be wired from the wiring diagram.



Just looking for the best/easiest/simplest way to do this

(especially with JPN wiring looms)

Notes from when I did my first Naomi cab to gun conversion:



These are how I modified the looms to use on the existing NOA-60021 and NOA-60022 (26pin and 60pin looms).





White 12pin Amp

---------------

Pin 01 = Start (Wired up normally)

Pin 06 = Trigger (Pin 8 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)

Pin 07 = Screen Out (Pin 6 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)

Pin 12 = GND (Wired up normally)



Yellow 12pin Amp

----------------

Pin 01 = Start (Wired up normally)

Pin 06 = Trigger (Pin 9 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)

Pin 07 = Screen Out (Pin 7 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)

Pin 12 = GND (Wired up normally)



White 8pin Amp

--------------

Pin 08 = AGND (Pin 1 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)

Pin 03 = GunX1 (Pin 2 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)

Pin 04 = GunY1 (Pin 3 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)

Pin 05 = GunX2 (Pin 4 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)

Pin 06 = GunY2 (Pin 5 CN_OUT on the Gun Board)



I used the 15pin connector for the +12V to power the gun board as I put the gun board under the control panel.

I have the Yellow and White Mating 12 Pin Connectors.



Gonna Have to look though my pile o' looms for the 8 and 15 pin mating connectors. (I think I have some of these)



I plan on wiring these up this weekend.









Next Step will be the Guns...





1st rediculous question...





Once everything is wired except the guns is there any rudementary tests I can do to check things out?









2nd maybe rediculous qustion(s)...





To Power the Guns do they run on 12VDC?



If So...



It looks like the guns should be powered from gun I/O board 7 pin conectors (Pin 7), Is this accurate?



or



On the NOA-60021 and NOA-60022 - 26pin and 60pin looms - is there a recommended place to pull 12VDC to power the guns?











3rd maybe not so rediculous qustion...





For you guys overseas w/ shooters do the guns have Molex or Tyco connectors on the end of the gun cables?



Mick may have some guns on the way that already have Molex Connectors that plug into the Molex Gun Looms I have.



More curious to see if the Guns are wired differently from the US to JPN/EU

Anyone using a Type II Gun Input Protection Board (Part # 998-0165) or see a need for it?

Just for grins I hooked up my NAOMI Analog Panel and ran Confidential Mission



I think the output from Gun I/O board basically converts the gun signal to a analog X/Y output.





Using a analog panel. (Panel for Zombie Revenge, Spawn?, Others?)



The Analog Joysick positions the virtua gun position

Player one button two shoots. (Trigger)

Player one button three moves the gun off the screen. (F.out)

(Or you can move the gun off the screen using controller)



It's not too bad until you get to the gas room.



Also, you need to calibrate the Analog panel because the default gun settings will not even be close.



And then set everything to super big and super easy.



Even when you get it calibated as best you can it is off by 90 degrees.



But it does run and you can play it which gives a good understanding of the wiring needed and the mechanism on the SEGA Type II gun shooters.

Hey Bob,



I think youre correct on all accounts..i picked up the cab last night...everythign in the whole damn cab is molex connectors except the monitor.....



I'll get out my MMeter later and check everything as voltages go...hopefully i can get the beast working later..it does shoot...but its of for some reason
