Missing JVS harness

Post by OldFoo »

I have a Capcom cabinet that is just JAMMA and I have my Naomi 1 in there. I need to add the extra buttons for some of the games that I want to play and I do not have the Capcom I/O just the Sega one. If this was a Naomi cabinet then I know that I would have gotten the JVS harness, but it is not so I am missing this.

I know that I can go to:

http://triplemoonstar.brinkster.net/seg ... ockid=1689

and buy this harness but that seems really expensive for something that I only need for a couple of buttons. Is there anyone in the states that sells these cables?

When I look at the wiring diagram at: http://www.sega-naomi.com/resources/manuals/NaomiWD.pdf

It looks like pins "25 c 26 d" are buttons 4 and 5 and then pin "4 and 8" on another connector are for buttons 5 and 6.

Can I just make a small harness to use these pins?

I mean for not much more then the cost of the cable from segashed I can almost just buy a Capcom I/O.

That cable is for the Sega nonJAMMA I/O, and is a very god price.

You will have to run a cable from the extra buttons on your control panel to the JAMMA edge (IIRC the Sega JAMMA I/O has buttons 4 & 5 mapped to the JAMMA edge)

that wiring harness makes more sense now.

I am not saying that is expensive, just that it seems expensive for adding a couple of buttons - but again since I have JAMMA I understand.

Now how does button 6 get handled?

Yeah, just take it off the connector at the side for button 6 :)

That JVS harness is for something else entirely (rewiring a Uni)
