Some Questions
1) On the Gun I/O board there is a switch HOD/JUL.
What does this switch do? I looked through various documentation but I could not find any information.
2) There is a tech bulliten for the Pharoh Sceptors.
http://www.seuservice.com/bulletins/Maz ... 0Kings.pdf
It mentions this is adjustment reccomended when using the sceptors but I changed the shells on one of my guns and it seems fine.
I did shoot the center of the target at the beggining of MOTK so maybe this took care of the y-axis issue???
I did not flip the HOD/JUL switch to see what it did. Does this do the same thing as tweaking the pots on the gun I/O board
Also, I read in another thread the the 45 caliber Type II shells are better than the sceptors...
but...
I really need to disquise the gun games to look alot more family freindly for several reasons.
So I could really use some help with the sceptors as changing to the 45's is not really an option.
Any information greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Pete,
I am not positive on either of these switches.
I think the 29/50 swtich flips the screen/mirror thing.
I flipped the 29/50 switch on my gun I/O board and it fixed one issue I had.
My gun I/O board came out of a woody and went into a UNI and flipping the 29/50 swtich got all of my shooters wroking with default settings (MOTK, CM, HODT2) <- Now set to 50 for a standard NAOMI UNI
Just not sure what the HOD/JUL switch does???
I was hoping it offest the setting when using the sceptors instead of having to tweak the pots as mentioned in the tech bulliten.
I might have to start flipping switches and see what happens???
Thanks
Bob

I updated various part of this thread.
There are two swithes
Switch 1
29/50 (I think this is for Woody Vs DX VS Naomi to take care or mirroring)
Switch 2
HOD/JUL (Not sure what this is for???)
Below is picture of the switch.
Any insight greatly appreciated. I've read various NAOMI shooter manuals but I cannot seem to find it
Also, if anyone has any insight outside of the tech bulletin linked above on the Pharoh Sceptors much appreciated.
It seems like my gun is working OK with the Pharoh Sceptor although I probably need to test further to see how accurate it is.
It is definitly very 'playable'.
I hate to start tweeking pots unless I have too.

Thanks

footix wrote:Just what I tought, JUL stands for Jurassic Park Lost World (14 sensors setup). Don't touch that setting. If your aiming is good, better off leave it untouched. Maybe the notice was for woodies, who knows.
EDIT: my bad, it seems all the later revision boards have the two jumpers
THANKS!!! footix.
Now at least I know what all of the switches are for.
Best I can tell it is not anywhere in sega's documentaion.
At least I could not find it and it was not due to the lack of looking.
I guess it was wishful thinking after seeing the tech bulletin that flipping a switch would take care of the Sceptor issue instead of messing with the pots.
For now I'm just going to leave it.
I may experment to see what the differnce in readings are on Pharoh Sceptor Shell vs. 45 calliber when I get some time.
Right now I've only converted one of my 45's over to a Sceptor so I'll hopefully have some time to experiment.
Need another part to covert my other 45 to a sceptor.
Thanks Again

Just for the record, every IR Type 2 Naomi gun cab has been badly configured.. Looks like they just got the part from SOJ, and just dumped it in.
The Analogue X-coord should be closer to (0x09 odd) when the gun is pointing left most, and (0xc0) when point right most.
IF it is back to front you need to flip the 29/50 switch.
Once flipped you can then use the default settings in the gun games just fine (if not then you will need to adjust the VR4 and VR5 pots).
Ideally you need 2 people, one person to hold the gun pointing exactly in the middle of the screen.
Twist VR4 and VR5 to make the X/Y become as close to 0x80 as possible.
A few games will not work if the X/Y is back to front, Death Crimson OX for example.
HOTD2 seems to be more accurate than COnf/Maze for some odd reason.
