really it should be plug'n'play.
Fact isn't working can only indicate that your trackball I/O is defunct.
Plug the USB from your Naomi 1 into the trackball I/O go into the test menu (you'll have to use the buttons on the filterboard), go to input test and see if it is connected.

Certainly, I'll try the direct connection from the mobo to the trackball I/O to see what happens.
However, I'd really like to know what connectors from the CP loom go with what connectors from the arcade cabinet.
That's what I really need to know.
If I have the damn thing connected correctly, and it doesn't work, is different than not knowing whether I have it connected correctly at all.
Again, I appreciate the help.

Sorry to bump this old thread but it seemed appropriate.
I'm trying to hook up my own virtual golf panel. However I can't get the trackball to work? Should I be able to see it working without an additional i/o board? If I plug it directly into my naomi main board (with the JST connectors plugged into the cab) it doesn't work in the input test. But the red light on the trackball io board is on!
I was able to get all the buttons working by plugging my capcom io directly into the motherboard and disregarding the usb off of the trackball io.
Also, I see that everyone says to daisy chain the trackball io board to your other io board... but I have the capcom io, not a sega io. It only has 1 (output) usb port. Does this mean I can't use this panel without getting a sega io/amp/etc?
I also tried exposing the second usb port on the motherboard and then plugging both usb cords (from capcom io and trackball io) into it... no luck.
For reference, i'm hooking this up in a sega new astro city. The cab and capcom io are powered off of the internal psu. The naomi mobo and gdrom are powered off of a modified atx psu.
