Problem with naomi 2 mobo...help...

Hi,



I have a noami 2 that works fine with carts game or dimm+gd rom

but If I start it without dimm or cart game the first naomi screen miss of some screen square parts and/or some of them are blinking, if enter in the manu is the same....but with game or dimm everything is perfect....



I have tired to make the test (with game or dimm) and it is ok...

I have tried to change the eprom.....nothing!



Do you have any idea how to fix this problem???



Is ir really strange!

My reply might may not help with your issue, but I am forced to ask. Why would you want to boot the Naomi with no game? Also, if it works with the game, what problem is there really?





P.S.



Have you tried loading a Naomi2 game? Naomi1 games only use one of the 2 video chipsets on the system. If the second chip is faulty, you will not know until you try a Naomi2 game.

maybe you are right,I have to try this...I have just test it with naomi 1

games.....It should mean that firs screen imege without game use both video chipset and with naomi 1 game just one!?

If I turn on my motherboard without naomi 2 cartridge, Naomi2 screen appears and then the error message Error 01 This game is not acceptable ...." is displayed on the screen

Which it is supposed to do if you boot it without a ROM/DIMM board.. But that is not what mar.vetto is asking about.. he is having some graphics issue..



curious as what you will find out, mar.vetto..

I am not sure to understand but when I start my Naomi without cart or dimm board I haven't any problem on screen. Just an normal error message as I said in my previous message.

That is the point. He is not supposed to have any screen problems, but is concerned because this problem is showing on his system.

hello,



this is a trade secret actually, but i'm going to tell you my experience.



i had my initial D game (naomi 2) loading with chess pattern (you said square and blinking). yes, it is loading WITH gdrom and the rest in the cabinet itself. the square/chess pattern seen in whole game (be in attract or test mode). it turn out that some, or maybe a 'set' of one of GPU memory in the motherboard fault/damaged.
