SkiDog wrote:I recently purchased a NAMCO JAMMA->JVS Converter
It did not come with any instructions.
Most of the stuff is pretty straight forward (JAMMA, Power, USB, Audio, Video)
I have it up and running but I am waiting for a CGA to VGA converter to set it run properly. (I've tried one so far but I had to send it back becuase it did not work)
I did have a couple of questions and would like the manual if anyone has a soft copy (I Googled but could not find one)
1) What does the MN/ST jumper do?
Mono/Stereo
2) Why are there two 15 pin video outputs?
for vs play
3) Is there any difference between the two video outputs?
no
4) Are both video outputs standard CGA?
TBD
5) Looks like there is either an S-Video or QWERTY keyboard connector, what is this for?
S-Video Out
6) What is the extra 10 pin connector beside the JAMMA connector for (kick harness maybe)?
TBD
7) What does the reset button do?
TBD

What does the four position dip switch do?
TBD
One a side not what is the best CGA->VGA converter with a 15pin input and 15 pin output?
(I tried the one on ebay from Amery but it did not work properly, it just doubled the H-Sync and it was not close enough to the 31Khz to work, no adjustment, so I just got a bunch of pixels)

Hey Bob, got a PM here and while browsing saw this post. I can answer all your questions for you dude, as I've had a Cyberlead for years =]
1. The video outputs are actually both whatever the board is, so normally either 15khz or 24khz, as the CL has a dual-res Nanao stock. One of them is used for sending the picture to the screen, and the other one runs your video through to the NTSC converter board in a Cyberlead, for NTSC video output, and linking as well
2. The "s-video" type jack is actually for wiring certain Namco boards like Tekken 2 to the CL's LED display marquee
3. The extra 10=pin connector is for your kick buttons as you guessed, the CL actually came with an adapter for it, but it's def. easy to make your own - and the pinout is:
(starting closest to the jamma harness to the edge)
1 - Speaker Out + (for mono)
2 - Speaker Out - (for mono)
3 - Ground
4 - P1 Button 4
5 - P1 Button 5
6 - P1 Button 6
7 - P2 Button 4
8 - P2 Button 5
9 - P2 Button 6
10 - Ground
4. The reset button is for the scrolling LED marquee in the CL, and the dip switches are for different Namco boards (Sys 11, System 246, etc.) Essentially, all just for use w/the Cyberlead
5. The best CGA - VGA converter I've ever seen/owned/used is the XRBG2, made by Micomsoft. They're pretty pricey though, and I know there is an XRBG3, and some other models. You can get them on YHJ for decent prices, but still they'll run you a bit. (few $100 used) Still, they're totally worth it, and they produce the best transcoding I've ever seen. They even have a scanline setting that simulates the raster in RGB games =]
Hope all this helped if you didn't already find it out from Mick or someone lol. Here's a scan of the diagram from the manual as well. Hope all's ggod w/you man!
