Melted Naomi2 Motherboard

Post by bk2099 »

I bought a Naomi2 Mobo with VF4, didn't notice until I got home that the bottom was melted. Does anyone have a picture of the bottom of their Naomi2 mobo so I can see what it's supposed to look like?

Thanks.

Both Naomi 1 and 2 have the same shape, different color. And I can say with certainty, it's not supposed to be like that.

I have no idea if it works since I dont have any Naomi connectors. This is my first time buying Naomi equipment. I bought it for $40 so I'm not really complaining and I can always return it.

It's supposed to be smooth on the bottom with only the holes for the screws. That looks pretty bad (cosmetically). I wonder how it happened? :smt009

First thought, power supply shorted out and caught on fire. Scary scenario, but it would take considerable amount of heat to start melting plastic like that, especially since the melted portion is concentrated on one side of the case.

For $40, check it to see if it even works. The motherboard may have suffer some damage from the heat.

It's possible it could've even been sitting in some chemicals... That could account for the melted appearance as well.

Well I really hope it wasn't chemicals, that's kinda scary. Hopefully it was just heat related.

I tried to test it by soldering wires from a PC power supply to the back of the panel and connecting my VGA monitor to it but no picture or audio showed up. The fan and lights did turn on though.

Don't think I'll be able to test this without all the Naomi hookups.

It's Roger's old Naomi 2 mobo, he overclocked it to get Turbo speeds in MVC2.
