Using Atomiswave motherboard in a Naomi cab, how?

This will work with any JAMMA board (inc CPS2 & 3), as long as the board doesn't require a -5V feed. This can be made by building a voltage inverter circuit & connecting it to +5V, and then soldering to where the -5V pin is on the JAMMA.

Don't have the kit infront of me, but IIRC, buttons 4 & 5 are available on the JAMMA edge, so if your JAMMA board has these buttons wired to the JAMMA edge, then you're OK. For games where the extra buttons are on a kick harness only, then you need to use the kick section on the JVS (White connector top right on piccy) and attach your relevent kick harness.

I personally use a JST 8 Pin connector (Like on the Naomi PSU) as they are easier to get hold of than the connector for the kick harness on the JAMMA>JVS. So I have a small loom with a JST on one end, the JAMMA>JVS kick connector on the other, then have a set of kick harnesses (CPS1, 2 etc) with a female JST on the other end, for simple plug & play.

So how would I know if the board need the -5V? Just try it, it won't get damaged?

But CPS2 doesn't need it?

For my Naomi, I have the dedicated JVS I/O, the one without the JAMMA edge. I have my additional buttons just plugged in with this:

Mainly older JAMMA games need the -5V. If you don't supply it, the board won't run (or may appear to run faulty)

CPS2 does not require -5V.

OK, for the looms...

The loom you have connects the extra buttons to the (JVS) Non-JAMMA I/O in the Naomi.

What the JVS to JAMMA board does (in very simple terms) is turn your JAMMA board into a JVS board.

Right, the JAMMA edge only has enough space for 5 "fire" buttons, but not all systems route the extra buttons to the JAMMA edge. IIRC the extra buttons for CPS2 are only available on the kick connector, unlike NeoGeo MVS which has the 4th button on the JAMMA edge.

If the extra buttons are on the JAMMA edge (4 & 5 only) then you can just plug & play.

If, as for CPS2, you need a kick harness, then you need to connect this harness to the extra connector on the JVS>JAMMA. As I explained, I don't know what connector this is, so have no way of sourcing more to attach to my other kick looms (CPS1, CPS2, Namco).

So what I do is make my own universal kick loom, with the JVS>JAMMA kick connector on one side, and a JST-VLP-08 on the other (as these are easy to source). I then connect a JST-VLR-08 to each system specific kick loom.

I'll try find some pictures in my old threads on KC if i've got any.

I'm not back in the UK till October, but if you can wait till then, then that's not a problem.

Not sure where to get JVS>JAMMA. Always got mine 2nd hand throught forums.

I've just been to seller checking out two Naomi Universal Cabinets. They are both fitted with Atomiswaves. A few pictures:

An Atomiswave mobo is a plus, but I'd be looking to fit a Naomi in here.

What am I missing here, besides an audio amp? There were some unused cables there, what cables am I (possibly) missing?

I didn't have a chance to take a peek at the I/O, what's the most likely scenario? This?

So, that JAMMA-connector connected to the Atomiswave has it's other end here? What's needed to connect a Naomi? Can I leave the JAMMA connector connected when unused and running a Naomi, and I could just pop in a JAMMA-board whenever?

From the looks of the pictures, everything looks to have been ripped out except the SUN PSU, and the transformer for the monitor & PSU AC supply.

With the JAMMA loom being in there, I'd assume the I/O has been ripped out & that there is just the JAMMA loom connected directly to the CP.

You need to have a look under the control panel to see if the I/O is still there.

Your best bet (i.e. cheapest) would be to use a Sega JAMMA I/O connected to the JAMMA loom, and power direct from the SUN PSU.

You would still need an Amp, unless you used the Capcom IO
